Difference between NUMS and PMDC MDCAT test. Here we will discuss the NUMS and PMDC MDCAT Entry Test differences. A lot of Medical students wonder why there are two Entry tests for Medical colleges and if the NUMS entry test is important.

PMDC MDCAT Entry Test
PMDC MDCAT Entry Test. The MDCAT Test has only one portion - Mandatory for Admissions in any Medical and Dental colleges Other than NUMS.
- Conducted ones in a year
- Conducted by provincial unioversities (UHS, KMU, DUHS, SZABMU, BUMHS)
- Total MDCAT Marks are 200
- Duration of MDCAT: 3.5 hours
- Mandatory for Admissions in any Medical and Dental colleges Other than NUMS.

Admissions
PMDC is the main regulatory body for Medical and Dental college admissions. Pakistan Medical Commission conducts an It entry test which is mandatory for any student who wants to get admission to any of the Public or Private Medical or Dental colleges in Pakistan.
However, the NUMS entry test is only for students who want to get admission to NUMS-affiliated Medical or Dental colleges in Pakistan. Even if you have passed the NUMS exam you have to pass the MDCAT exam for admissions but NUMS is not mandatory for medical or Dental colleges that are not affiliated with NUMS.
Preparations
NUMS and MDCAT are both similar exams and if you are preparing for the MDCAT entry test the same Preparation is required for the NUMS exam. Almost most of the syllabus followed in both NUMS and MDCAT is the same and you don't need to worry about both as you can prepare for both exams at the same time.
