What is Recall Question

Recall questions are those questions where you don't need to think too much about answers and can answer instantaneously without any solving techniques such as Definitions, Laws, Equations.

What are Application Questions?  

Application questions are those questions where you need to apply your knowledge to solve some problem presented to you. such as you need to solve equations for getting the answer.

Biology Examples

Recall Question: 

A good example of a recall question could be,

"What is the name for the basic unit of life?" for that you don't need to think much and you can answer "cell" spontaneously. 

Application Question: 

For example, we know according to Chargaffs rule amount of Adenine is equal to the amount of Thiamine in DNA and the amount of Cytosine equals the amount of Guanine in DNA. So if the question comes what is the amount of Cytosine in DNA if the amount of Adenine in DNA is 18%? This requires application of knowledge of Chargaffs rule that if Adenine is 18% then Thiamine is also 18%. This made our equation 36%. The remaining 64% is divided half to Cytosine and half to Guanine i.e. 32% each. So the amount of Cytosine will be 32% 

Physics Examples 

Recall Question: 

Newton's 3rd law of motion is for bodies that are 

a) In motion b) At rest c) Both a and b d) None of these 

Ans) Both a and b

Application Question:

Two vectors are of magnitude 50 and 31, the resultant might be? 

a) 82 b) 15 c) 78 d) 91 

ans) 78 For two vectors A and 8, their resultant will always be in the range: 

IA - BI < Resultant < IA + BI So, in this case resultant, will be in the range of: 

19 < Resultant < 81 From the given options, only 78 lies within this range so 78 is the correct answer.

Recall Question: 

Statement of Graham's Law is

a) The rate of diffusion is directly proportional to the square root of its density

b) The rate of diffusion is inversely proportional to the square of its density
