HOW TO ACE MDCAT? STUDY TIPS AND TRICKS TO CRACK MDCAT
MDCAT is known to be one of the toughest and
highest levels of difficulty in Examinations. Well, you'll get to know that there
are others too as you'll progress further, But the reason why this is very
important is, It is a career-based Examination. And the future of the most
brilliant lot depends on it. So, it is very important to know what kind of
effort must be directed, in which direction to crack its code.
If you want to succeed, Invest your time to make
a perfect plan, devise a brilliant strategy and then hit the target. For this
here are some study tips and tricks you should be knowing. That will not only
make you stay focussed but also ease your life and will help you save your
energies. So Get Started!
1. MARK THE AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT AND GIVE THEM DUE TIME:
If you are a fresh candidate, you need more
insight about what are your needs, and how you should work upon them. And if
you are repeating, you'd probably know your areas of weaknesses and now should
target them with more effort.
if you are a person who is good in CRAMMING, then you should be focussing on building of your concepts. Giving a thorough read from better books and taking help from a senior or from the internet is the best approach for it. And if you are a person with a good grasp on CONCEPTS and you lack when it comes to cram values and stuff, then you should be working on it. You can write those values on large chart papers or sticky notes.
2. MAKE A PROPER BUT LIGHTER TIMETABLE:
Medical Students are known to be very good at
making Timetables. But only those who succeed who make it with a practical
approach and then follow it. Why is it difficult for them to follow their
own timetable? Because, they make a very tough one which is very difficult
to follow.
Mark the due subjects, things you need to do e.g
Theory, MCQs and pearls etc. A lot of them slots of timings. Do the things you need
to cram in the morning when you'll be fresh. Do your favorite or easier stuff
at the second half of the day. Take Rest Breaks and time for meals and a light walk
or some family time. Don't drain yourself as a fresh mind is a sound mind.
There is no fun in investing hours for a thing just because you are too drained
to get it.
3. FOLLOW THE TIMETABLE BY HOOK OR BY CROOK:
Once you've made a proper timetable, Now its time
to follow it with full effort. As there is no need of a map if you have no fuel
to move. Follow it by all means, and if there are things left, do them in you
time you spared for some lefties [ oh!
you didn't leave some room for it? You must've not foreseen it, but we did :) ]

proper Timetable for MDCAT"
4. REVISION:
The key to and even in Medicine is Revision. Remember, its better to read a book 100 times than to read 100 books a single time. Donot waste alot of time in the first read. Give proper time to revise the stuff.
5. TIME TO REST:
This is one of the most important things to stress
upon. Remember, even a machine needs to
rest for while to function properly. You cannot be in front of the books the whole
day to tell yourself that you are doing well. The determinant that you are
doing well is if you are following your timetable [if properly made] and having
your goals achieved. Then you are all good.
You need at least 4 hours sleep at night and a 1-hour nap during the day along with meal breaks, some family time and a few minutes to walk or any physical activity. That still leaves 14 hours to study which is more than enough even for a mediocre student. You can amend accordingly, making it further light but not harder than this.
6. STAY FOCUSSED:
Scientifically proven, The attention span of a
normal being is 45 minutes. If you are sitting in a chair murmuring for hours
with a mind running like a horse in anything other than studies and expecting
that you'll be able to recall every stuff, apologies, You are wrong.
Its important to eliminate all other distractions
and stay focussed to help grasp the concept, or get the thing done, rest and
move forward than to cling on a single task the whole day.
7. DON'T TAKE EVERYONE'S ADVICE:
Do not ask every other person his study strategy
and tailor yours according to him. This will leave you a dress which won't fit
you. Invest proper time initially to make a perfect timetable and devise a study plan and then move according to it.
You can amend it later on too, if you get some ideas from a reliable source.
But remember, those who change their map daily, Never reach their destination.
8. HAVE SOME FAITH:
Nothing can happen if you won't believe in
yourself and your luck. Have strong faith in yourself.
And If you are a Muslim, say your prayers 5 times a day, Read at least one page of Holy Quran daily and ask from Allah in Tahajjud to grant you what's the best for you and then to keep you contented. For only He knows, what the best for us. Give your Maximum and then leave it upon Him. You'll not regret this in sha Allah.
BEST OF LUCK FOLKS! MAY THE ODDS BE IN YOUR FAVOUR.
JazakAllah
